The best piece of gym equipment is the Smith machine.
 
Most gyms never have enough of them, which is very inconvenient because everyone uses them and these machines are never available especially during peak hours. Each gym should have at least four Smith machines, if not five.
 
The amazing thing about the Smith machine is that it can be used for most major muscle groups and if you have a few dumbbells you can get an entire workout centered around this machine and free weights.
 
A good Smith machine is always counter balanced and easy to control. It moves very smoothly and puts very little stress on the muscles which will help you to avoid injury.You can lift heavy without having someone spot you and go for high reps without any trouble...... A very good thing!
 
With the Smith Machine, you do not have to focus on balance. It is already balanced for you so you can focus on perfect form.
 
I always say "If I could have only one piece of gym equipment it would be the Smith".
 
Here are all the exercises that can be done on the Smith machine.
  • Legs: Squats
  • Legs: Lunges.
  • Delts:Shoulder Press.
  • Traps:Shrugs
  • Chest: Flat bench press
  • Chest:Incline bench press
  • Back:Bent over rows for back
  • Triceps:Close grip bench press for triceps
