Stretching for a Healthier and Stronger Body

Before you start check out our Training Tips and work out properly.

I started bodybuilding when I was only seventeen. Stretch that Body My brother and all of his friends were seriously into bodybuilding and I learned from watching them. Stretching before their workouts consisted of bending in a few directions which lasted all of ten seconds. Of course I followed their exercise routine and totally neglected to stretch. Over the years I became a serious natural bodybuilder and began to develop muscles that I never even knew existed! Then I began to develop back problems, but I did not let that stop me from lifting heavy weights. My back problems became quite serious and many doctors told me that I had to stop working out. That was out of the question!

I consulted with a friend who had achieved a black belt in karate to discuss my back problem. He encouraged me to engage in a serious stretching pram. He took me to his karate class, and I observed the students warming up with stretching exercises for at least twenty minutes.

Shortly thereafter, I started taking karate classes and began this vigorous stretching program . My whole world changed. For the first time I could see the importance of stretching and I actually began to enjoy it. My entire body loosened up and I did not feel so stiff anymore. My back problems lessened and stretching also taught me to relax.

If you do not incorporate stretching into your workout routine, I advise you to begin. You do not have to be a weightlifter or athlete to benefit from stretching. I encourage everyone to stretch, because stretching allows our bodies to return to a fresh and natural state. Look at how limber babies are!

Flexibility is one of the key components to a balance fitness program. If you do not stretch, you will be missing an invaluable part of your overall wellbeing. Flexibility does many positive things; it prevents injury, promotes relaxation, reduces stress, increases your range of motion, keeps your body loose and agile and, most importantly, stretching will improve your posture.
