Mae West was born in Brooklyn,
New York in 1892. She worked as a child actor before moving onto vaudeville
and musical comedy. She was known for her portrayals of defiantly sexy,
strong and assertive women. With her platinum-blond hair, powerful and
sensual physique, sexy and distinctive walk, and seductive innuendo filled
speech, West became known as an unconventional sex symbol and world renowned
icon. By 1935 West was the highest paid woman in the United States even
though she caused controversy and censorship in the movie industry.
She wrote and starred in plays on Broadway
before going to Hollywood to become a major film star.
Mae West paved the way for the many strong
women to follow. She was the equal to and better than any man she met up
with and she always made sure to have the upper hand. She was quite a powerful
woman. Not too many women today could hold a candle to her. I’ll bet she
could have probably bench pressed over 200 lbs. and made a great wrestler
and dominatrix! She would have been great at humiliation! In her later
years, she surrounded herself with a bevy of handsome male bodybuilders.
If Mae West were a competitive bodybuilder, she would have most definitely
been in the heavyweight class! She was a woman after my own heart!
