First Zheng Zie defeats Ana Ivanovic: “At less than 5-foot-5 to Ivanovic’s 6-foot-1, the Chinese had one thing going for her, as noted by 1977 champion Virginia Wade on BBC-TV. “This beautiful, statuesque player,” Wade said of Ivanovic, “she is being beaten below the knees because the ball is coming so low at her.”
