“During my career in track and field I already noticed my skill and speed probably are somewhat above the average. In addition I’m not actually what you would call a small person, since I measure 6′ 3″ body size straight. This is also why I really enjoy kicking some feable guys’ tender little butt once in a while.”
“Fighting is one of my favourite pastimes. I consider rolling around on the mats with an opponent one of the most diverse physical activities there is. It requires lots of skill, endurance and strength. From experience I gathered in fights with men so far I figured that I am pretty tough to beat. That of course sparked my fighting spirit. These pictures illustrate which kind of awkward positions those who take me on can find themselves in rather quickly.”

last week in Rotterdam via JeromesPOV on Flickr: If you are planning to commit a crime in Rotterdam, better make sure that you are in good shape. Otherwise, if you get a police woman on your tail, chances are that only a trained athlete can outrun them.
Cindy and Nancy were one of the many police women participating in the adidas Ladiesrun, last Sunday. In this Pink Ribbon-supporting event, Women of all ages were running for 3, 6.5 or 10 kilometers. Nancy and Cindy were doing the 10 km version and were - after crossing two bridges - still fit enough to crack a police joke. Crooks beware!

European Cup team announced

Athletics Ireland have announced their teams for this year’s European Cup, which takes place on 21/22 June.
The women’s team will compete in the Division 1 competition, which is being held in Lieria, Portugal, while the men’s team compete in Division 2, which is being held in the Estonian capital Tallinn.
The women’s team will face Belgium, Czech Republic, Spain, Finland, Lithuania, Netherlands and Portugal. The team will feature several of Ireland’s top female athletes including Derval O’Rourke who will compete in the 100m after an impressive return to form last weekend in Germany.
At the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships O’Rourke won the gold medal in the 60m hurdles, becoming the first Irish woman to win an indoor world athletics championship.On her way to winning she broke the Irish national record twice and her winning time was 7.84s.
