June 27 (Bloomberg) — Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia took delight in dumping former champion Maria Sharapova and her outfit out of Wimbledon yesterday.
“It’s very pleasant to beat Maria,” said Kudryavtseva. “Why? Well, I don’t like her outfit.”
Kudryavtseva, the daughter of a Greco-Roman wrestling world champion, won in straight sets to hand the 2004 winner and Russian countrywoman her earliest exit at Wimbledon. The victory over the No. 3 seed meant Kudryavtseva, who’s ranked 154th, matched her previous best performance at a Grand Slam by reaching the third round. She’ll next play Shuai Peng of China.
Sharapova’s outfit, a white tuxedo-styled jacket and shorts by her sponsor Nike Inc., attracted as many questions at her first-round post-match press conference as her on-court performance. Kudryavtseva, who wore a white skirt and tank top, said her Federation Cup teammate’s attire “was one of the motivations to beat her.”

Vojislava Lukić (Serbian Cyrillic: Војислава Лукић) is a professional Serbian tennis player. She was born on March 31, 1987, in Subotica, Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia. Her career high is No.265 on March 19, 2007 in singles, and No.331 on April 2, 2007.
In 2006, she won three ITF tournaments in singles, all in Romania; in Piteşti, Medias and Bucharest.
FYI, Vojislava last logged onto Myspace only 10 days ago.

PARIS (AFP) — Ana Ivanovic tackles Dinara Safina in the French Open final on Saturday with the golden girl of Roland Garros determined to end the magical run of the tournament’s comeback queen.
Second seed Ivanovic, the 2007 runner-up, defeated fellow Serbian Jelena Jankovic 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in Thursday’s semi-final while 13th seeded Safina reached her first Grand Slam final with a shock 6-3, 6-2 victory over fourth seeded compatriot Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Ivanovic, who will become the new world number one on Saturday, win or lose, will start as favourite in her third Grand Slam final against a player she has defeated twice in three meetings.
But Safina, so long in the shadow of big brother Marat Safin, has enjoyed a fairytale run, twice coming back from a set and 2-5 deficits, and twice saving a match point, in her fairytale run through the tournament.
For Jankovic it was the fourth time she had played in a Grand Slam semi-final and the fourth time she had failed to make it through.

American tennis player Ashley Harkleroad will appear nude in Playboy magazine’s August 2008 issue. Harkleroad, who was defeated by Serena Williams at the French Open this weekend, told reporters she has already done the photoshoot.
Harkleroad, 23, will be the first tennis player to appear in Playboy. She said the offer came in earlier this year when she was recovering from surgery to remove an ovarian cyst.
“I was just laying there for three weeks, and an offer came to me,” she says. “I thought, well, I’m not really doing anything right now. I’m proud of my body. I was representing a female athlete’s body.”
